Kyle Charron, fiddle

Kyle's musical roots began in Barrie, Ontario at a very young age. He began playing fiddle at the age of four under the instruction of the late Eleanor and Graham Townsend. Kyle grew up competing in fiddle competitions throughout Ontario, entering his first competition at six years old and winning many top awards in his age categories growing up. Kyle is currently a 3-time Canadian Open Fiddle Champion. In 2007 he became the youngest contestant to win the Shelburne Canadian Open Fiddle Championship in its history. He is also a three-time Pembroke Open Fiddle Champion. Kyle has been a finalist at the Canadian Grand Masters for the past six years, finishing third place in 2008, second in 2010, third in 2012, and third in 2013. He has once again been invited to compete at this year’s Grand Masters Competition in Ottawa. Over the past few years Kyle has been an instructor at the Orangeville Fiddle and Step Dance Camp and has also instructed at the Algomatrad Music Camp in past years, where he has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. Kyle recently graduated from Western University with a BSc in Biology, and plans to record another album with his brother Jake this year.

Jake Charron, piano/guitar

Jake Charron is continuing to build a reputation as one of Canada’s fine multi-instrumentalists. He has been in high demand for various styles of music, accompanying artists around the world on piano, guitar and tenor banjo. Since graduating from Western University with an honours degree in Kinesiology, Jake has pursued music, and had the privilege of performing with many elite musicians including Shane Cook, Mark Sullivan, Brian Pickell, Pierre and Louis Schryer, Dan Stacey, Stephanie Cadman, Troy MacGillivray, and Grammy nominated fiddler, Liz Carroll. Currently residing in Toronto, Jake is in high demand for recording projects and teaching workshops. He has also been travelling North America, and overseas with a Toronto-based dance show called the Stepcrew. Jake recently released a duo album with fiddle master Shane Cook, and will be working on a new recording project with Kyle this year.
